We won’t make the mistake of trusting Raila again -NASA ‘stronghold’ leaders speak

A Kisii county politician has likened the region’s dalliance with the opposition in 2013 to milking a bull, saying this is a mistake they will not repeat in 2017. Speaking shortly after President Uhuru Kenyatta’s two-day tour of Kisii and Nyamira counties, Borabu parliamentary seat aspirant Patrick Osero said the community will now rally behind the Jubilee government. “We have realised we were milking a bull by supporting the opposition. We made mistakes but on August 8, the Kisii community will rally behind the President,” said Osero.

Milking a bull is a proverb used to indicate that an activity is fruitless. While the Gusii region has in recent years been perceived to be an opposition stronghold, various local leaders feel Jubilee has made significant inroads into the region, especially in Nyamira. The perception now is that they have diluted the National Super Alliance’s domination. “The county is no longer NASA-dominated. We are targeting 60% of the region’s votes from the 26% President Uhuru got in the last election,” said Nyamira county Assembly Speaker Joash Nyamok.
