Sonko is expected to return to Kiambu Law Courts before senior magistrate Stellah Atambo for a ruling on whether or not he can be released on bond pending hearing of assault and robbery cases.

At least 12 charges were levelled against the former Nairobi landlord at the Kiambu Law Courts on Tuesday, February 2, before he was escorted to Gigiri Police Station to wait for a ruling on his bail application two days later.

However, on Thursday, February 4, the day the ruling was supposed to be made, the court postponed it for five more days, leaving the embattled politician at the mercy of prison wardens.

I can also confirm that I gained access to the police station which was heavily, heavily guarded,” said lawyer Asa Nyakundi. More on this story.
