IGBOs Are Not Leaving Kano – Kano Governor

Kano Governor, Ganduje has assured Igbos of their safety in Kano state, He made this known yesterday while addressing reporters at the National Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja.

In his words “there are strangers in Kano state and everyone has the rights to live in peace. Therefore, Igbos residing in the state will be utterly protected from any hate violence.”

The  Governor was responding to the earlier quit notice issued by the Arewa Youths asking Igbos to vacate the North by October 1.

The Governor disclosed that his administration had abolished the indigene/settler dichotomy in running the affairs of the state and as such Igbos were free to remain.

He further said, “Nobody gave a quit notice to Igbo in Kano State. The Igbo’s themselves said they were not going anywhere and we too told them that they are not going anywhere. “So, it is an issue that we in Kano, want to show as an example of national integration. “Therefore, in Kano we are speaking with the people and, in fact, we have even abolished the issue of indigenes versus settlers. “Everybody in Kano is an indigene of Kano but there are some indigenes of Kano with primordial claim which is a fact.”
